Junonia Coenia (Common Buckeye)

I finally got a few moments to spare on photography again. Here is the latest macro shot in my series on insects. There are a lot more where this came from so stay tuned!

P.S. As with all my images, click on the photo to get a bigger version. Its usually better quality than the thumbnails as i post process with a certain viewing size in mind. Thanks for looking.

Cool shot ... but you have a strange way to cut of your pictures ... or maybe it is just my strange sense of geometry/symmetry I am looking for in something I call the perfect pic ... but know that I really like the shot and its colours ... and I envy you for you macro lense. I understand your "disease" more and more when trying new things myself and having to face limits. ;)
By the way, the right butterfly's wing really looked like this or did you modify something? I am asking because I find it odd to see half of the wing displaying regular colours and the other part seems to be all "washed out" colours. But then, everything is possible in nature, is it not?

The butterfly's wing was really that way but it could have been due to the way the light hit it or the depth of field in the shot. Thanks for the compliment on the shot. I know what you mean about the cropping but i just liked the photo. Next one will not be cut off...promise!

So growing up, i saw ALOT of all species of animail - what u get when ur father decides to build a home on a hill of all places. Anyway, this butterfly was my favourit cos i always thot it could see me. Was quite the insect killer back in the day but this one scared me topless all the time. So nice to see it looking as scary and yet so beautiful and still on here... Thanx for the memories :-)
