Since I couldn't find the true name of this butterfly , I've chosen a self-descriptive name for today. Its not my usual tight crop and I just wanted to see what a bit of negative space would do to my insect shots. What say ye, yea or nay?

You are amazing
That being said , I like this and the contrast with the out of focus background.
... so that you will remember when you are old and wise and all wrinkly ... ;) :P
I say yeah, yeah, yeah with regard to colours and the composition on the right side of the picture, but nay when it comes to overall/left side composition. Your pic is half-empty!!! You should have left 1/3 empty ... I think that would have been better ... but after your comment I see your point or understand your intention ... and now on the smaller screen it has a different effect on me also ... now, it is less disturbing ... maybe next time I will check your pics out on the two different screens before I make any comment at all. ;)
The "striped" appearance of the background is really cool and it gives the shot something special, in particular due to the different brown nuances ... and here some sort of a post scriptum as something else came to my mind today: Have you realised that this blurry-striped background creates the feeling of movement while the butterfly and the plant are actually still ... another little special something that makes me like the picture even more ...
